Bewildered

Design a sign-in page with personality.

The goal of this project was to create a sign-in page based on an adjective. The webpage should evoke the feeling of the adjective without explicitly telling the user.

Research

I compiled 40 adjectives and their definitions. I colour coded the adjectives based on if they are positive (red) or negative (green).

I narrowed down the 40 adjectives to 5 adjectives:
Belligerent
Bewildered
Dreary
Groovy
Serene

I created a semiotic analysis and mood board for each adjective:

I tried many iterations and I choose the best idea to use for my final.

Prototype

This is a bewildered sign in page. Bewildered is to be perplexed and confused; very puzzled and is commonly associated with the following visuals: confused face, question mark and homework. This landing page uses a maze to betray this adjective. The colour palette is minimal, simple and repetitive, making it difficult to find what you are looking for. I used a wild, jungle theme in the background to represent getting lost. I also hid various animals in the design. It successfully creates a bewildered sign in page because it is difficult for a user to navigate. Studies have said that users spend 15 seconds on a webpage. It would take a lot longer than that for the users to navigate this sign in page.

Further Development

To further evolve this webpage, I would code the page so the mouse can not pass through the maze walls. The user has to follow the maze in order to get to the three sign-in boxes.
